Fragments, Memory — a living archive.
The Uchiwa Lotus Lamp brings together centuries-old Kyoto craftsmanship and contemporary portable lighting. Traditional Japanese fan-making, hinoki woodworking, hand-applied urushi lacquer, brasswork, and modern LED technology converge in a poetic object that carries fragments of time, place, and memory into contemporary life.
Interchangeable Uchiwa
The illuminated reflector is a traditional Kyoto paper fan handcrafted by Hachiya Uchiwa using bamboo, wood, and handmade washi. These techniques have been practiced for more than 400 years.
The uchiwa is interchangeable. Customers can select their preferred fan or order multiple uchiwa in different colors and patterns, allowing the lamp’s expression to change over time.
Hinoki and Urushi Base
The sculptural base is made by Yamada Wood Workshop from Keihoku hinoki and finished with traditional urushi lacquer by Tsutsumi Asakichi Urushi, founded in Kyoto in 1909.

Handcrafted in collaboration with Nakata Ceramic and Christopher Flechtner, this sculptural light draws its subtle textures and colors from the natural landscape. Available in two finishes—Snow and Japanese Blue—each piece brings warmth, depth, and quiet character to contemporary interiors.
Designed for use on either a wall or ceiling, the ceramic form becomes softly translucent when illuminated. Light reveals the organic variation of its handcrafted surface while producing a gentle, inviting glow.
Balancing functional illumination with Japanese craftsmanship, the Nakata Ceramic Sconce is suited to residential, hospitality, and other intimate architectural settings.
CRAFTSMANSHIP AND NATURAL VARIATION

TONDA WASHI PENDANT
Created in collaboration with Christopher Flechtner of Craftsman Collective, the Tonda Washi Pendant combines a precisely engineered circular framework with the warmth and translucency of Japanese washi.
Its expansive, ring-shaped silhouette appears both architectural and weightless. When illuminated, the layered framework becomes visible through the paper, creating a soft rhythm of light and shadow across the sculptural form.
With a diameter of 920 mm / 36 in, Tonda has a strong visual presence while maintaining a gentle, diffused quality of light. It is designed for dining areas, living spaces, hospitality interiors, and other settings where illumination and craftsmanship become an integral part of the architecture.
MATERIALS AND CRAFTSMANSHIP
Tonda brings together American white ash or bamboo, phenolic components, Japanese washi, aluminum, and stainless steel.
The natural paper softly filters the integrated LED light, while the radial framework gives the pendant its distinctive torus-like geometry. Each fixture is individually assembled and finished to order.
Subtle variations in the grain, color, texture, and translucency of the wood, bamboo, and washi are inherent to the natural materials and make every fixture unique.
